Cheryl Griffiths has worked in the public K-8 educational system for the last 25 years. The first ten years as a teacher and the last fifteen as an administrator.  She was a superintendent/principal for eight years. In addition to her administrative and teaching credentials she holds a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communications and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
 
As an educator she has always kept the focus on academics and student achievement while maintaining test scores above the state average.  During her tenure as an administrator she worked to increase staff development and collaboration, maintain fiscal solvency, improve facilities, increase technology for both students and staff, increase student and staff safety while winning a safety award from CRSIG (Central Region School Insurance Group), was a SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area) Board member from 2011 to 2015, and successfully implemented Common Core standards and SBAC testing.
 
Mrs. Griffiths is a native Californian.  She was born in the bay area, however she has lived in Tuolumne County for the last 40 years.  She attended SES for her 7th grade year back in 1982 and both of her children attended Sonora Elementary from grades K through 8. She currently lives in Jamestown with her husband Kirt, a seventh generation Tuolumne County man.   They have two grown children, Amanda and Colton and two grandchildren, Adelynn and Matthew. 
 
Mrs. Griffiths is proud to be a part of the Bobcat team.

Sandra joined Sonora Elementary as the Director of Business Services in July 2021. She holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and earned her Chief Business Official Certificate from CASBO in 2022. Her past work experience includes non-profit program management. She lives in Sonora with her husband and three children. When not working, she enjoys being outside and exploring our beautiful town.  

Denise Alvillar joined Sonora Elementary as the HR/Payroll Specialist in May 2022.

Veida has been driving for Sonora School District since the 2014-2015 school year. She has 9 grandchildren that she adores! Veida loves to paint. She also loves hiking and coffee.

Our Transportation Department’s motto is, “Safety First.” We care about the children of Sonora Elementary School. We will always do our best to transport all the children to and from school safely.

Mrs. Crowder has worked in IT for thirty years.  The technology industry has kept her busy since personal computers became popular B.I. - before the internet.  She started with a hobby interest that included building her own computer and moved forward from there.  Her vast experience includes roles as senior systems engineer, disaster recovery, business continuity, systems programmer, network administrator, and computer security incident manager.  Mrs. Crowder has been serving as Sonora Elementary’s Technology Support Specialist since 2011.  Her depth of business experience and technical knowledge has enabled Sonora Elementary to quickly adopt new technologies for 1:1 classrooms and student assessments, and she continues to help us to shape the direction and use of technology across the campus.
