Hello everybody if I was elected as president I would try to make changes to improve this school.  First off I want to ask the teachers if I can make music available in classes.  Now this would only happen when the teacher wants but I have another idea where we could send out a form that states if the parents let the student use the phone for music during independent work.  This has never happened where we could take a vote on what kind of music we wanted to listen to and even choose it if you have permission to.  It also has been proven that some types of music help you learn.  This would try to be my first act as president if I was elected.  I also know most kids don't like the school food but we all have our favorites.  So I would do a poll on what foods you would like on the menu more.  And before I go, I would like to take suggestions from the audience.  Anyway this is all for my speech and good luck to everyone else running.

Hello, fellow students!

My name is Greta Hildebrand and I'm running for student body President.  I am running because I truly believe that together we can make a change in Sonora Elementary for the better.

I feel that I am the best candidate for the job because I have shown leadership skills, I'm a good student, and I am a team player.

I'm passionate about making Sonora Elementary a better place.

Recently, I was part of a team of students who founded an after school board game club, which I hope you will consider coming by to check out.

Two of my main goals are to improve school dances and work towards having and after school choir club.

I will promote student leadership and student activities.

I will listen to every suggestion, no matter how small, because this is our school and we should all have a voice in making it a better place.

Together we can have an excellent school year.

We can work for a more hands-on, inclusive school.

Remember, a vote for me is a vote for YOU.

Thank you.

Hi, I'm Hope Houck and I'm running for President for the class of 2018.  I haven't been here since kindergarden, but I feel as if I've known some of you all my life.  Student Council is a group of students who represent the school and who takes your ideas to create a better school year.  I have a lot of experience because when I went to Columbia El I joined the student council a year before I could and they gave me a shirt and let me go to the meetings.  In 3rd grade I was elected Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms.  In 4th grade I was Sergeant-at-Arms, in 5th grade I was Secretary, in 6th grade I was Treasurer, and in 7th grade I was elected Vice President, but I decided to go to the best school in Tuolumne county instead.  When I got here, I realized they did not have a student council, so I talked to Mrs. Webster and she made all of this possible.  I believe I'm the best candidate because I have a lot of experience, I'm well organized, I'm responsible, and would love to have all of your voices heard.  I want this school year to be the best!  My goal is to have more spirit days, rallies, dances, activities, and much more.  Let's make the student council and me make the best year.  Vote Hope.  Thank you.

My name is McKynlie Suess and I am running for president.  I am runnng for president because I am a strong leader and I have a huge heart.  As your president I want you to feel comfortable coming and talking to me about what is important to you and your classmates.  Please know that I have the strength to talk to the administration.  For example, Superintendent, Principal, and Vice Principal, about the issues that are affecting you as students.

As the captain and catcher of my travel softball team, I have learned how to be an affective leader and team player.  As most of you know, as a catcher I need to be able to communicate affectively with my pitcher, infield, outfield, and coaches.  I have also played may other sports while still being an honor roll student at our school.  I believe the skills I have learned off and on the field will make me a great president for our school Sonora Elementary.

How many of you like Mr. Boyles hamburgers and hotdogs?  How many of you enjoy rallies and other fun student activities?  How many of you would like to dunk more people in the dunk tank beside Mr. Boyles?  Well I hope to make all of these things happen when I become president.

Hello everyone,

It's a wonderful morning here at Sonora Elementary School and for those of you who don't already know, I am Evan Wynn and I'm running to be your Student Body President.  I would like to lead the Student Council in their journey to help improve this wondderful school of ours.  Now if you're wondering how we'll do this, I have a few ideas.  For one thing, we seem to all enjoy the school's new cafeteria salads.  It would be my goal to make this just the first major food improvement we make.  To follow that up, I would like to put a Student Store into use selling materials like pencils, lead, and staplers, but also a wise veriety of snacks and beverages too.  Another few things I would like to do as president include adding party or other video games to school dance, making a longer-term investment of money towards lockers, andlooking into letting the higher grade-levels use the play structures.  So to top things off, I think you should vote for me because I am a strong, loud, kind, respectful and capable student.

Who do you want to represent you?  How about me?  Some of you might know me already - the tall girl.  My name is Valerie Harris and I'm running for Student Body Vice President.

Why am I running for Vice President you might ask?  It's because I really enjoy participating in school activities, and I really care about our school.  I like being part of the Board Game Club, the Spelling Bee, and the basketball team.  And I think I would be a valuable member of the Student Body Council.

I have several good ideas for enhancing our school.  I think we students know lots about things that could make our Sonora Elementary experience better.  For instance, I think we should improve the after-school bus lines.  As you probably know, they're not really lines.  I think of them more as stampedes!  You probably have some good ideas for our school, too.  Do you think we should have more fun activities?  Please tell me your ideas and I will bring them to the council.  That's what I want to do.

I like working with others, I like making people happy, I like helping with school events, I like ice cream, and cookies, but then who doesn't? I like making new friends, and I'd like to represent you.  Thank you for your time, and remember, Vote for Val, She's your Pal! Valerie for V.P.

John Shaw, candidate for Vice President

Hello, my name is John Shaw.  You many know me as a fellow classmate, but I can be much more than a classmate.  I can be kind, caring, and patient, and I am running for Assistant Principal - I mean Vice President.

I want to be Vice President because I want to drive our school in a better direction, both for students and staff.  You should vote for me because I have experience at this school.  I have been at this school since there was a preschool. Half of you probably didn't even know there was a preschool at Sonora before.  I also have experience from playing all sports a male gender can play, being in the GATE program, and playing an instrument in our music program.

There are lots of things I want to accomplish to move our school in a forward direction, but there is a certain thing that I noticed, that we can improve School Dances.  We all know why most of the school dances were cancelled because there wasn't enough people who wanted to go to the dance.  But why? Because they were simply boring.  There was only music, food, and a picture booth that you and your friends can get a picture of each other.  I think a good start is to set a theme for the dance.  If your going to a Halloween dance, decorate the area your going to do the dance, also have a few activities that are Halloween related, so it fits the scene and it gives people something to do without getting board.  Aslo another think I need to address if you have a concern, please tell me, I'm sure our committee, whoever that may be, can come to a resolution. And with that, is the end of my speech.  Thank you for listening and remember, vote John for Vice President.

Hello Bobcats.  For those of you who do not know me, my name is Alexis Herfurth, and I'm running for the office of treasurer.

I'm running for student body treasurer because I am dedicated to help improve Sonora Elementary, where I've been attending for the lsat nine years.  Because of all that Sonora Elementary experience, I believe I'm the leading person for the job.  I am very academically inclined, consistenly being a straight A student and always receiving an A+ in math.  I'm also diligent, meticulous, and accountable, all perfect traits for this position.

If I am fortunate enough to earn your vote, I will always strive to listen to you and perform this position to your liking.  I promise to be fiscally responsible with all school financial transactions.  I will analyze and keep a sharp eye on the budget on every activity or event.  I vow that I will manage and improve how this school is maintaining the revenue and expenses at all times.  I will give monthly reports on the budget of each current actviity or event and alert the council if we are over budget.

My fellow Bobcats, those are my plans for the future of Sonora Elementary.  Remember to vote for me, Alexis Herfurth, for the office of treasurer, because you can count on me to count for you.  Thank you everyone and again, vote Alexis.

Hi, my name is Zeke Miller from 8th grade and I'm running for treasurer.  The reason I am running is because I think that it would be fun to be in student council.  Also I get to help run the school and have a say in wha we use our money for.  I would be a good fit for the job because of a few reasons.  First, I am very good at math (not to brag), so I will be able to  correctly count our money, so we know what we can afford or need to raise money for.  Also, I will be an active participant in making big bucks for the school with different types of fundraisers. Finally, using that money, we will be able to do more things like parties.  As treasurer, I hope to accomplish raising enough cash to be able to aford multiple activities throughout the year.  Well, that's it.  But remember, it will make dollars and make sense if you vote Zeke for treasurer!!!

Hello my name is Emerald but you can call me Emmy.  I am in 6th grade and running for the seargeant-at-arms position.  I know you 7th and 8th graders are like "oh, it's a little kid" but trust me you want to listen to this.  I have a couple of reasons why I think I would be a good candidate for the job.  First of all I have one arm here, another arm here, 1 arm plus 1 arm equals arms (see I'm good at math too) and I can march fairly well see I will show you (march and trumpet) get it, sergeant-at-arms? Ok, no.  My next reason is that I am super bossy.  I can boss people around like nobody's business, I am the boss of bossiness.  Why does this matter, because the Sergeant-at-arms job is to make sur the student council meeting runs smoothly and everyone is sitting down and doing what they're supposed to do.  Last but not least I know that in order to do good in school I need to be able to concentrate and I can't concentrate when people are being loud and obnoxious.  There may be some people running for the student council who feel the same way.  I think that in order to make good decisions and have good conversations we should be able to concentrate and since I am bossy it comes naturally to me to say shhhhhhhhh to those people who are being disruptive.  I also just want to be a part of our school maybe even a part of improving it.  Oh and one more think, if I get nominated I will have a timeout corner for those of us who are being naughty.  Ok, thanks for listening, and vote Emmy for seargeant-at-arms, have a great day, see ya!

Hi! My name is Cailey Silva, I am in 6th grade, and I am running for seargeant-at-arms.  Sergeant-at-arms is where you keep things in order and organized and sometimes if other members become disruptive during meetings you have to break it up and give them warnings.  I have plenty of experience doing this at home because when my brother and my cousins argue I try to break it up and resolve the problem.  Also, I would be good for this position because I am organized.  For school I like to be organized because it helps me get things done and do my homework faster, since I have basketball practice after school.  I wold love to be in the student council, so please remember to vote for Cailey Silva!!!!
